Go Daddy Review: GoDaddy Cloud: Don't

07/22/10

Pros:

Seems to be an economical alternative to a self-hosted Mac server.

Cons:

A "business continuity" disaster. It is down more than it is up. And GoDaddy's response is slow and ineffectual. Not reliable at all.

Other Thoughts:

Only a month into a Mac cloud server contract, and other expenses with an independent IT consultant to get the cloud server up, running and connected to our office systems, had to cancel because Go Daddy because we could not keep it running and Go Daddy could not get it fixed in less than four or five days. This happened twice within five weeks. Only then did I look to see how other Go Daddy clients fared, and found the Go Daddy User Forum full of similar complaints and precious few good comments. Go Daddy was a costly mistake.

Cons:

shouldnt even be considered cloud computing / cloud hosting / grid hosting - its basically some load balanced apache servers - and like other godaddy hosting, reliability is horiffic!

Other Thoughts:
