They're a rip off, and truly don't care about you, they just want your money.

Cons:
The customer service representatives treat you like dirt, and make you feel inferior. And they treat YOU like this while THEY give you horrible hosting.

04/12/10Pros:
The first week was the only good time with Rackspace/Mosso.
Cons:
In the beginning, I loved rackspace/mosso and thought they were the best, which is what I noticed a lot of people think. But as time grew on, and my servers started going down, so did they. Horrible customer service and over-priced for bad servers.

04/12/10Pros:
The only pro is that they are widely known for great service, even though they are horrible and rip you off.
Cons:
Everything... from uptime, to customer service, mainly the way they treat you, it's super expensive, and all around horrible.
Other Thoughts:
Definitely go to someone else!

Great support via chat (I don't think I've ever had to call them). Easy to use control panel. Never had a problem in over two years. Since Rackspace took over the quality of service has remained the same.
Cons:
No way to disable a website except to zero out the DNS for it. There is a feature to automatically bill my client's credit cards, but the site stays up if payment is not made. Wish there were more client managment features.
Other Thoughts:
I really like Mosso now RackSpace Cloud. The control panel is easy to use, but I'm not so crazy about it. I am beginning to wonder if there are less expensive yet reliable alternatives. Not because of issues with Mosso/Rackspace. Just curious if saving some $$ is possible.
Mosso charged $20/month for SSL capabilities for the first SSL cert. That is a bit high if you only have one site with SSL. It's a better deal if you have multiple sites with SSL. i'm not sure if Rackspace is doing that now though.

Rackspace Review: The Mosso Excuse
03/19/09Pros:
Mosso USED to be awesome and their support WAS willing and able to assist on all matters. Their support response WAS also second to none....
Cons:
Now that Rackspace has infiltrated every bit of Mosso - their attitude towards the customer has shifted from "how can we help you" to "we're a big corperation, so we will help you in a half-ass manner cuz we know losing your biz is insignificant"
Other Thoughts:
MOSSO NO LONGER CARES ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS!!!!!
Like the customer below, I was sick of them doing maintenience on the MySQL clusters and taking my site offline. I called to ask whats up and if there was a better MySQL cluster to be on...and Mosso used their new favorite excuse - "I cant answer that question, email am@mosso.com (Mosso account manager) and they will answer it for you"
This is a total BS answer and heres why: Your supposed "Mosso Account Manager" doesn't exsist. If am@mosso.com responds to your email at all (50% of the time they dont), it is 3-4 weeks later and their answer is just another pointless question
am@mosso.com answers all your questions with more questions - nothing ever gets done!!! It just buys Mosso more time!!!

they REGURARLY put their MySQL clusters into read-only mode for upwards of three hours - are you kidding me, take my eCommerce site down for 3 hours - what a joke - get your act together mosso!!!

Dear NAME,
Mosso | The Rackspace Cloud will be performing priority maintenance on our MySQL5-19.wc1 cluster in our San Antonio data center (SAT) from 1:00 - 3:00am CDT on March 19, 2009. All SQL queries utilizing this cluster will be in a read/lock state (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, ALTER queries will be ignored) for the duration of this maintenance.
We expect this maintenance to last no longer than the time listed. We certainly apologize for the inconvenience and the short notice. Updates will be posted to the status page (http://status.mosso.com) throughout the maintenance. It's important to also note that no other technologies will be affected.
For your reference, you have the following databases on MySQL5-19.wc1:

Support in a live chat environment, answered in less than 15-30 seconds every time upon opening a new chat window. There’s always a friendly manner about the staff and there’s always that personal touch.

used mosso for over a year and love it to death, it has made my life as a web designer 1,000,000 times easier
Cons:
they could open up some php options like 'URL includes' which are disabled
Other Thoughts:
their support is second to none!!

Cons:
Avoid mosso like the plague. The sales pitch of cheap clustered hosting sounds good, until your sites all go down for 6 hours at a time, ruining your day/weekend and possibly your business or career. Their support is good, but they are extremely small and their infrastructure is simply unstable. To see for yourself, check their status blog (http://status.mosso.com/) and pay attention to the frequency and length of serious problems. Their forums are full of angry customers who are bailing right and left, for good reason. You get what you pay for, and at mosso that isn't much.

02/16/09Pros:
Fantastic. True they had some growing pains but every new company does. What they are doing is still a very new technology. Not many other companies offer this. Their support is beyond any out there. That is a fact. LIVE TECH SUPPORT via phone or chat. 24/7. Plus you can run windows right along side of linux. No one offers that.

Downtime is pretty much a non issue. last two months equalled less than 2 hours downtime.
